Two important magisterial texts on Africa are linked below - 1) the U.S. Bishops' 2001 A Call to Solidarity with Africa, and 2) Pope John Paul II's apostolic exhortation, Ecclesia in Africa (1995), which the late pontiff issued after the First Synod of Africa. Initial preparations are underway for a Second Synod of Africa, called by Pope Benedict XVI in June 2005.
